Fresh chapter to begin for independent restaurant as it relocates to larger base
The Swine Bistro (previously Swine that Dines), an independent Leeds restaurant run by chef couple, Jo and Stu Myers, is moving to a new, bigger base in Headingley.
The new Swine Bistro restaurant will be opposite the Arndale Centre on Otley Road, Headingley, in the space that was previously Jam hairdressers, and is set to open in January 2025.
The business, which opened as the Greedy Pig cafe in 2012 before being transformed into a restaurant in 2014, staged a successful crowdfunding campaign, raising £42,000 to help fund its move to a larger venue.
Jo Myers, co-owner, said: “We were hugely humbled by the support we had helping us raise the money to fund our next chapter.
“We are beyond excited about finally moving into a bigger restaurant with a kitchen that has space we can actually move in!
“Headingley is a vibrant suburb full of brilliant independent bars, restaurants, cafes and shops and we’re proud to be joining them.
“We won’t be fundamentally changing our menu, but the new space allows us to be more creative with our dishes as well as offer a fuller wine list, and even cocktails. We can’t wait to welcome people into our new home.”
The new restaurant will double its covers to 35 as well as include a private dining room with an additional 12 covers.
It will welcome its first ever head chef, Kirsty Cheetham, who will work alongside executive chef, Stu Myers.
Cheetham won Observer Food Monthly’s Best Sunday Lunch award in 2018 and 2022 when she ran The Queen o’t owd Thatch in South Milford, Leeds.
She is passionate about British food using locally sourced ingredients and will work alongside Stu to develop the classic British seasonal dishes the Swine Bistro is known for.
Stu Myers said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Kirsty to our team and working collaboratively to develop unique and exciting dishes that tantalise our guests’ taste buds.”
The Swine Bistro is continuing to build its team and is looking to recruit chefs at all levels and a front-of-house manager.
Its original home on North Street will temporarily close at the end of December 2024 for refurbishment and will reopen with a new offer in the New Year.
