Major affordable homes scheme takes shape

A construction milestone has been reached at an affordable homes development in Leeds.

United Living Group, a provider of infrastructure, affordable housing, property services, and telecoms, has confirmed its subsidiary, United Living New Homes (ULNH), and The Guinness Partnership held a ceremony to mark the topping out of Block C of the Points Cross development.

Block C will see United Living New Homes deliver 174 apartments and nine town houses on behalf of The Guinness Partnership. All the new homes will be for shared ownership.

The scheme forms part of a large regeneration programme in the South Bank area of Leeds, which will provide over 8,000 new homes in total, with 928 of these homes delivered at Points Cross.

Marcus Westmorland, operations director, United Living New Homes, said: “We are happy to have reached this significant stage in the Points Cross development.

“The topping out event presented an opportunity to celebrate the truly collaborative approach all parties have taken in helping to bring this landmark development to fruition.

“We look forward to continuing to work together with our partner, The Guinness Partnership, to bring this project to completion.”

Angela Garrard, development director, North, The Guinness Partnership, added: “These shared ownership homes mark an important point in the development here at Points Cross, bringing affordable homes to residents in the heart of Leeds South Bank.

“This demonstrates our commitment to supporting Leeds City Council’s regeneration ambitions for the area and would not have been possible without grant funding from Homes England and West Yorkshire Combined Authority.”
