Pub which has been trading for 400 years under new ownership

The Foresters Arms in Grassington has been sold.

The pub dates back to the 17th century and has been trading for around 400 years.

Alongside the pub and restaurant, the Foresters Arms also offers seven ensuite letting bedrooms and outdoor seating.

The pub had been owned by Rita and her family for over 30 years, who is now looking to retire.

It has been sold to Brian and Keeva Hartley, who said: “We are excited to be the new owners of such an iconic pub and we are looking forward to the journey and settling into life in Grassington. We would like to thank Rita, Phil and all their family and we wish them well for the future.”

Alex Rex, associate director at Christie & Co who managed the sale, said: “There wasn’t a shortage of interest in this business. Grassington is one of the most popular destinations in this part of the country and that showed with the offers we received. Brian and Keeva are established publicans, and I am sure they will do an amazing job of carrying on the legacy left by Rita and her family. The sale of The Foresters proves that there is significant demand for hospitality businesses in the prime tourist hotspots.”

The Foresters Arms was sold at an undisclosed price.
