Retailers sign up for more than 42,000 sq ft of space at shopping centre

Sheffield shopping centre, Meadowhall, has struck a trio of deals, with brands JD, Superdrug, and Ann Summers.
Nearly trebling its presence on Meadowhall’s Lower Level High Street, JD is expanding by taking five adjacent units to create a 29,225 sq ft store, its biggest in the region and second largest nationally. This is due to open in 2026.
Superdrug is relocating to a 10,199 sq ft space on Meadowhall’s Lower Level High Street and is set to open what will be one of its largest stores in the country in late May.
Ann Summers’ expansion, in which it will move into a 2,854 sq ft store, is also into a unit on Meadowhall’s Lower Level High Street.
James Air, director of group acquisitions at JD, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that we will be delivering one of our largest stores in Europe at Meadowhall.
“With over 60 metres of frontage in a prime location, I am confident this will be one of our very best stores.”
Richard Crowther, retail leasing director at British Land, said: “Meadowhall continues to attract strategic investment from leading national and international brands.
“JD, Superdrug, and Ann Summers are the latest tenants to recommit to the destination, following 26 retailers that invested over £30m in their stores in the last 12 months.
“These substantial lease agreements will only elevate Meadowhall’s Lower High Street, as part of a centre that really dominates its region.”
