Latest appointments: Barclays Corporate recruits relationship director; Shulmans promotes property lawyer and more

BARCLAYS Corporate has recruited Eric Brindle as relationship director for the West Yorkshire area.

Mr Brindle brings with him a wealth of corporate banking experience gained in his previous roles with Royal Bank of Scotland, the most recent as senior relationship manager in the Bradford area.
 
He said: “I relish the challenge of driving forward the corporate profile of Barclays in West Yorkshire and looking after both new and existing customers.”

Jennifer HigleySHULMANS solicitors has promoted Jennifer Higley to an associate through the firm’s Progression in Practice scheme, which outlines career paths and offers support for ambitious employees.

Ms Higley joined the Leeds-based firm’s commercial property department four years ago, bringing with her specialist expertise in advising landlords and tenants, sellers and buyers.

Simon Jackson, head of commercial property at Shulmans, said: “Although commercial property developments have been quiet, we have seen a steady stream of different work over the last year and Jennifer is part of a strong team in this field. Landlords are now offering complicated incentives to get tenants to sign up, making leases more complex. We are also seeing site acquisitions funded through individuals’ wealth, often through their pension funds, because of the lack of bank financing.”

LEEDS-based fleet management company Zenith Provecta has appointed Mark Connor as head of operations. 

In his new role, Mr Connor will be responsible for maintenance and in-life services, Zenith Provecta accident management team Careline, procurement and contracts administration. 

He joins Zenith Provecta from Lex where he worked for seven years in senior management roles across a number of operational areas.

INTELLECTUAL property specialists Kempner Robinson has made a series of new appointments.

Dr Whitehead joins Kempner Robinson as a senior solicitor. He is a leading specialist in patent litigation. Prior to becoming a solicitor he worked as a research scientist and academic publisher in the Netherlands. Dr Whitehead joins the firm from Addleshaw Goddard.

Mr Colpitts is a recently qualified lawyer and joins the firm as an assistant solicitor, where he will take on both litigation and non-contentious matters for clients across the full scope of the firm’s practice which includes patents, trade marks, designs, copyright and passing off.

Sanjeet Plaha also joins the firm as an assistant solicitor. Miss Plaha qualified in 2009 with the majority of her legal training dedicated to intellectual property law.
