University of Sheffield to open new offices in city

THE UNIVERSITY of Sheffield has taken new office premises at Merlin Estates' new mixed-use development at Broad Lane on the edge of Sheffield city centre.

The university has acquired 34,000 sq ft of new office space on a 15 year lease and upon completion of the development in 2009 the university will locate some of its services to the site.

The £15m development will house 99 apartments and 100,000 sq ft of brand new and converted office space on a 1.5 acre site. The project will also comprise underground parking.

Nick Baker, head of sales and lettings at Atisreal's Sheffield office headed up the deal for the university.

He said: “The University is very pleased to have secured such high quality accommodation in a strategic and convenient location adjacent to its main campus. The acquisition has required an immense amount of cooperation with regards to design changes to ensure that the university attained the perfect building to showcase their facilities.”
