Charity Latest: Jailbreak raises thousands; Clarion and RSM Tenon come together for Bel; and more

SHEFFIELD-based manufacturers Gripple and Loadhog raised £6,000 for charity after staging a charity hitch hike.
Jailbreak saw six ‘inmates’ aiming to get as far as they could from their prison in 48 hours without laying out any cash for transport.
Among those breaking out of Loadhog’s Sheffield base were Cat King, the company’s sales and marketing coordinator and its supply chain coordinator Jen Handley, who raised the most after ‘blagging’ their way the furthest – to Dalaman in Turkey 1,822 miles away.
Ms King said: “We simply could not have got so far and raised so much if it hadn’t been for so many generous and helpful people – most of all Thomson and First Choice. We are immensely grateful to everyone who supported us in our escapade.”
The funds are being donated to Weston Park Hospital, Sheffield Children’s Hospital, The Royal Society for the Blind and The Alzheimer’s Society.

AN 18-strong team of Yorkshire professionals from Clarion in Leeds and RSM Tenon joined forces to complete the 170 mile coast to coast cycle ride in aid of The Being Bel Trust.
So far, the team has succeeded in raising £20,800 for the trust, set up for ten-year-old Bel Young from Harrogate who was who was left tetraplegic and reliant on a ventilator following a fall from a climbing frame last summer.
Bel is the daughter of Clarion partner Simon Young.
The team of cyclists took on the newest coast to coast cycle route, the Way of the Roses, which runs between Morecambe on Lancashire’s Irish Sea coast and Bridlington on Yorkshire’s North Sea coast.

SIX employees from the Advanced Digital Institute in Saltaire are now half way to reaching their target of £2500 by completing the Coniston Adventure Challenge.
The event is a 32km race, consisting of a 10km hike up the famous ‘old man of Coniston’, a 20km mountain bike through the Grizedale Forest and finally a kayak stretch of 2km over Coniston Water.
All money raised will be donated to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
