Newburgh launches pelleting company

A YORKSHIRE engineering firm has announced the launch of a new company.

Rotherham-based Newburgh Engineering has set up Sizer Limited after acquiring the Sizer name, which is renowned across the pelleting industry.

Sizer will manufacture its own bespoke pelleting machines under the Orbit brand, which originated in Hull back in the 1920s and was one of the first types of pelleting machines to be produced.

Sizer will also provide spares and refurbishment services for Orbit and other types of pelleting machines.

Nick Finch, technical director at Sizer, said: “All over the world, the Sizer name is known for producing high quality pelleting machines and we are very excited about operating under this renowned name to manufacture and repair Orbit and other machines here in South Yorkshire. It is fantastic to be able to build on this heritage, which goes back over 100 years, and strengthen our support for our existing animal feed customers while launching into exciting new markets with a tried and trusted brand.

“We think there are huge opportunities for us to grow our business both in the UK and internationally, based on our knowledge and expertise in the pelleting business.”

Sizer’s managing director Roger Pearson said: “We are looking to meet the demand for high quality pelleting machines in new markets such as biomass, waste and the recycling sectors. The realisation that pelleted waste can be turned into various useful products has opened many doors. The material is densified, saving on transport costs and uniform, easing storage and handling issues. The pellets provide efficient renewable energy or can be used in some cases as fertilizers. People are realising that their waste can first be turned into a pelleted product which makes handling and storage easy, and then, in turn can be used to provide energy efficient fuel for either heating their premises or resale to other parties.”

He added: “We have the range of machines to suit every purpose and situation. It is the technical expertise that counts and we have extensive knowledge within our team of all types of pelleting requirements to suit customer needs. And with the backing of parent company Newburgh, direct links to the very best in high precision engineering.”

Orbit pellet presses can be found across the world in a wide range of industries, including animal feed, food and drink processes, biomass and Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF).
