Novella enjoys China growth

SATELLITE communications equipment firm Novella has secured orders worth £250,000 from China.

The new orders followed the company’s trip to the China Satellite Conference and Exhibition in Beijing earlier in the year.

Horsforth-based Novella has also hosted visits by engineers from the Beijing Electrical and Mechanical Institute.

Novella is familiar with success in China having secured its first order from the country six years ago after its equipment impressed staff at the Chinese Academy of Space Technology.

Exports to China now represent around a third of Novella’s overall sales with 2011 representing its best year yet.

Novella director Cecilia da Costa recently returned from a trip to Brazil where she showcased its produts to manufacturers of satellite antennas.

Created in 1997, the company’s customers include NASA, BT and Boeing.
