3D specialists join forces

TWO companies have come together to launch a 3D design and display specialist business.

LDJ Design & Display, of Keighley, has merged with Centre Design, of Prudhoe, Northumberland to create Fuzzwire.

All former employees of the previous businesses – 80 staff based in Keighley and 50 in Prudhoe – will transfer to the new operation.

The company will specialise in producing large scale display schemes incorporating techniques such as 3D theatre, animatronics and lighting.

Typically these are commissioned by major shopping centre owners across Europe and can also be used for events and by the entertainment industry.

Ian Stead has been appointed chief executive of Fuzzwire after joining LDJ as managing director last autumn.

He said: “With Fuzzwire we’ve created a vehicle capable of bringing new levels of innovation and quality into our industry. We have unrivalled experience and a highly motivated team that’s passionate about delivering creativity to delight both our clients and their customers.”

LDJ Design & Display was founded in 1986 and the company was bought by Trevor Smallwood in 2002.

Peter Mason and Mr Smallwood, a former chairman of transport business FirstGroup, will serve as directors on Fuzzwire’s board.
