Plans look to bring mill out of retirement

PROPERTY developer Conroy Brook (Developments) has submitted plans for a 46 apartment retirment complex at a former mill building.

If given the green light, the Prickleden Mill site in Holmfirth will also feature community facilities, gardens and a restored mill dam.

The scheme by the Holmfirth-based developer is aimed at the over 55s and if the plans submitted to Kirklees Council are given the go-ahead, the apartments will be centred around a landscaped garden and overlook the restored landscaped mill dam.

Richard Conroy, chief executive of Conroy Brook, said: “As a local Holmfirth company we are delighted to bring this scheme forward. We have a track record of award winning retirement developments and believe the

Prickleden Mill site will make a positive contribution to the community, including jobs for local people, and deliver much needed, modern retirement units.

“Our scheme was well received at the public consultation we carried out last year, and we look forward to the support of Kirklees Council, and the general public, to our planning application.”

A decision on the planning application is expected by this summer.
