Thousands expected at YIBC

MORE than 2,000 Yorkshire business people will gather in the region today to hear from speakers ranging from a former prime minister to a heavyweight boxer and supermodel.
The Yorkshire International Business Convention (YIBC) is being held at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate today, with a sister event taking place in Hull.
Keynote speaker at the event is former Australian Prime Minister John Howard.
His forthright style, tough stance on immigration and his global approach to leadership raised his country’s profile on the world stage.
Other speakers include supermodel Elle Macpherson – who was famously branded as “The Body” – and has become a prominent figure in fashion, film, television and business.
George Foreman is the two-time Heavyweight Champion of the World winning his last title at the age of 44.
His sales talents led him to a business fortune marketing his “Lean Mean Grilling Machine.”
Rory Bremner also makes a welcome return to the event organised by Yorkshire businessman Mike Firth alongside other figures including inspirational expedition leader Ken Hames, and Yorkshire-born Richard Reed co-founder of smoothie maker Innocent.
Rosie Winterton MP, the Regional Minister for Yorkshire & Humber, will also speak at the event where she will launch a new business ambassador initiative.
TheBusinessDesk.com wil be reporting from the event and providing updated coverage throughout the day.
Previous keynote speakers at the convention – now in its 13th year – include Mikhail Gorbachev, former US President Bill Clinton, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Bob Geldof, and pioneering astronaut Neil Armstrong.
