Football Focus: Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Scunthorpe United

LAW firm Hill Dickinson has signed a three year sponsorship agreement with Championship football club Sheffield Wednesday.

Hill Dickinson will sponsor the Kop Stand at Hillsborough and the firm will also have use of the club’s hospitality suites.

Neil Thompson, head of Hill Dickinson’s Sheffield office, said: “We are continuing to establish ourselves as the full service law firm of choice here in Sheffield and, in doing so are committed to supporting the fabric of the city, in terms of the arts, sports and the community.

“Many of our team members come from Sheffield and we are passionate about the city’s sporting heritage and world-class arts scene.”

Meanwhile, Clugston Group has signed a two year sponsorship deal with Scunthorpe United Football Club.

The partnership will see the company once again becoming the main sponsor of the club’s East Stand.

Clugston was involved in constructing the cantilever stand at the old Showground in the 1950s and first became a sponsor of the East stand when the club moved to Glanford Park in 1988.

Clugston Group’s chief executive, Stephen Martin, said: “We are delighted to be involved with Scunthorpe United Football Club, which like Clugston, has a long history and tradition in Scunthorpe and the region. We wish them success in the new league season and a great run in the cups.”

As part of the company’s 75th Anniversary celebrations Clugston has pledged to raise £75,000 for a number of regional charities.

GAC, the global shipping and logistics giant, has also renewed its sponsorship deal with Sheffield United.

Since forming links with the Blades in 2009, GAC has been based at Bramall Lane in the Blades Enterprise Centre.

GAC then went on to become the official logistical partner for Sheffield United and followed that by sponsoring the South Stand at Bramall Lane.

Group Sales Director at GAC, Shankar Gurumurthi, said: “We value long-term relationships with business partners, customers, suppliers and our own staff and are extremely happy to have extended our current deal with the Blades.”

Steve Coakley, commercial director at Sheffield United, added: “It is great news that GAC has decided to extend their current deal with the Blades. We are passionate about working with forward thinking organisations that share our commitment to providing a quality service for our customers.”
