Charity football match set to score

ORGANISERS of the 2012 Yorkshire Property Charity Football Match believe the event is set to be the most successful so far.
More than 400 seats have been sold for a dinner being held as part of the annual fundraiser.
And thousands of pounds are set to be raised for charity through an auction on the night.
Prizes donated so far include a stay at Marriott’s Grand Chateau in Las Vegas, donated by Craig Burrow of Bruntwood, and a holiday in a villa, signed Manchester United and Leeds Rhinos shirts, and meals at top restaurants across the region.
The dinner will be preceded by a football match between a team of property professionals, sponsored by Norland, and a team of agents, supported by Towngate, on a pitch at MEPC’s Wellington Place scheme in Leeds.
Money raised from the event will be donated to children’s charity Barnardo’s and Yorkshire Cancer Centre, in memory of John Hubbard.
The football match is being held at MEPC’s Wellington Place scheme in Leeds on the afternoon of September 20 and will be followed by the dinner at The Queen’s Hotel in the city.
TV celebrity comedian Milton Jones will be the star performer at the dinner but is also set to show his skills on the field.
Jonathan Phillips, of Beach Baker, and a member of the event’s organising committee, said: “Given the ongoing uncertainty in the general economy, it’s been absolutely fantastic to get such overwhelming support from the Yorkshire business community.
“It’s shaping up to be yet another fantastic occasion and we’re confident of raising a record amount for charity.”
