Change at the top at JF Finnegan

CONTRACTOR and property developer JF Finnegan has appointed a new managing director.

Chairman Philip Hollister, who has been undertaking both the managing director and chairman roles at the Sheffield-based firm in 2010, will retain his role as chairman.

However, managing director duties have been given to JF Finnegan director Gary Smith.

Mr Smith joined the firm from Henry Boot Construction in 1989 as an estimator. He joined the company’s board of directors in 2010.

Mr Hollister said: “At JF Finnegan we have always taken a strategic approach to the management line-up, ensuring a clear flow throughout the varying levels.

“During my many years with the firm I have been fortunate to work with some inspirational leaders, latterly several years alongside my predecessor Philip Ryan. By promoting Gary to managing director at this time, we can work together to continue the delivery of the JF Finnegan ethos.”

Mr Smith added: “It is a real honour, and an exciting challenge, to be appointed to the role of managing director at JF Finnegan. I have always had a genuine respect for the values of the company and to be in a position to work directly alongside its chairman and be more actively involved in the running of the business is a career aspiration fulfilled.

“We maintain our positive outlook for the company as we have a healthy number of projects on site both within the region and across the country, and also have a secure base for the next financial year.”
