Amey gears up for roads project

PUBLIC services provider Amey is to establish a new base in the Don Valley after securing the contract to deliver Sheffield’s £2bn Streets Ahead project.
The firm has leased 6,000 sq ft at Distington House in a ten year deal from developer Prospect GB.
Andy Milner, managing director of Amey’s consulting division, said: “It is from Distington House where all of the highways design work for the Sheffield Streets Ahead Project will take place. It’s an exciting move that signifies Amey’s growth across the Yorkshire region.
“Although we’ve had a presence in Sheffield for the past 25 years, we’re now very much looking forward to embedding our new integrated team of skilled professionals into the new modern premises that are better suited to allow us to communicate more freely and innovate.”
Streets Ahead is a major pfi-funded project to maintain and improve the city’s road network awarded to Amey this year.
Amey has joined NHS Direct and Gabbo Precision as tenants at Distington House.
Prospect GB commercial property manager Robert Roddy said: “The arrival of another high profile name like Amey, one of the UK’s leading public services providers, further reinforces the status of Distington House as a prime location for all types of businesses and organisations.
“We are delighted that Amey has chosen our business park as its base for the Streets Ahead Project. The Don Valley location provides excellent strategic advantages, particularly its convenient access to motorways and other transport networks.”
Tim Bottrill, from letting agents Knight Frank, added: “At Distington House we have been attracting excellent demand by offering flexible letting structures to meet the particular long-term business plans of each client. This has been the case for Amey as they prepare to undertake a huge long-term programme of work in Sheffield.”
