Westfield agrees Bradford scheme sale

SHOPPING centre developer Westfield is thought to have sold its stalled Bradford shopping scheme.

Real Estate Investment firm Meyer Bergman is said to have agreed a deal to buy the Broadway scheme which would still be developed and managed by Westfield.

Neither Westfield nor Meyer Bergman were commenting on the deal today.

Westfield has repeatedly committed itself to pursuing the scheme despite it having remained on hold since 2008.

Next, Marks & Spencer and Debenhams have all signed up to take space in the scheme with the latter having last month extended its proposed store size.

A Westfield spokesman said: “Westfield is not prepared to comment on speculation. Westfield is committed to progressing The Broadway scheme in Bradford and is focused on the preletting of the scheme before it can commence on site.”
