Design talent given helping hand by Primeur

TEXTILES and flooring supplier Primeur is showcasing the work of almost 40 British artists and designers under a new initiative.

The Bingley-based business has launched the Artistic Britain brand, offering original art, canvas prints and textiles.

Primeur’s joint managing directors, Barry Minal and James Keighley, believe the venture is unique.

Mr Minal said: “We are excited to be working with and promoting an incredibly talented, creative group of British artists.

“Our collections are very commercial and sit between the top end elite galleries and the high street retailers. There is a real enthusiasm and demand for high quality affordable art and to support home grown talent.

“Ultimately, our aspiration is to be the number one online retailer for original British art.”

Artistic Britain is set to move into other product areas including glass art and cushions.

Initially launched online at www.artisticbritain.co.uk, the business aims to expand through retail channels in the UK and overseas. The initiative has already received significant orders from Australia.

The new business will also focus on promoting and supporting artistic talent in Yorkshire through its partnership with the University of Huddersfield.

TheBusinessDesk.com reported in 2010 how Primeur, a £16m turnover business, had secured more than £3.1m of new funding in a deal led by Ethos Corporate Finance.
