Advice pay off for Wrenthorpe

WRENTHORPE-based Dearnley Blinds has won contracts worth more than £350,000 showing that the region’s businesses are still in good health despite the credit crunch.
The firm, which is one of the UK’s largest manufacturers and installers of blinds, has secured a deal with Bovis Lend to supply St James Hospital in Leeds.
It attributes the win in part to advice from Business Link Yorkshire (BLY), which helped it improve customer services, efficiencies and boost profit margins.
Andrew McHale, Wrenthorpe’s managing director, said:
“With advice and assistance from Business Link we now have better trained staff across the board and more effective processes.
“They have an infinite source of information and contacts enabling us to find the right specialists for our business.”
BLY is urging manufacturers to take advantage of its free services to help them survive the effects of the credit crunch.
Peter Hanson, a manufacturing specialist at Business Link Yorkshire, said:
“These are challenging times for businesses. Therefore, it is more important than ever that they can find the right advice and support to improve their efficiency and productivity as well as helping them to develop new and existing markets both at home and overseas.”
