Deal won by Farnell element14

TECHNOLOGY products distributor Farnell element14 has won a four year deal valued at £10m a year.
The organisation, part of Leeds-based Premier Farnell, has secured the framework agreement with the National Universities Working Party on Electronic Components (NUWPEC) for the supply of electronic components and associated products to the higher education sector in the UK.
The tender has been won by Farnell element14 since 1999.
Neil Harrison, president of Farnell element14, said: “We created the onecall partnership at the request of the sector to help reduce vendors, make ordering from us easier and offer a enhanced range of product technologies.
“At Farnell element14 we understand the importance of encouraging students to take an interest in engineering.
“By providing an unrivalled range of components and services we hope to spark the imagination of young students to encourage them to create their own innovative projects in the future.”
Mr Harrison said Farnell element14 had a commitment to ensure engineering was represented in education and through its work with the Raspberry Pi foundation has supported the introduction of computer science in schools across the UK.
