STAFF at Sheffield manufacturer Gripple have turned £50 into more than £14,000 in The Master Cutler’s Challenge.
The cash has now been presented to Master Cutler, Gordon Bridge.
It will be added to the totals raised by almost 100 other Sheffield companies and passed on to the city’s St Luke’s Hospice and Rotherham hospice.
Unwanted bric-a-brac, home-produced curry, an in-house comic, scratch cards, cakes, and unwanted jewellery were all sold to boost the total.
One staff member even designed a company Christmas card, with Gripple handing over almost £2,000 for the saving it achieved.

ACCOUNTANCY firm Garbutt & Elliott have announced they are to support the St Leonard’s Hospice business challenge event, ‘Say You Dare’ for the second year running.
More than 50 staff are giving up some of their holiday time in order to take part in the event on the September 18 and try and raise £1,000 for the St Leonard’s Hospice charity.
St Leonard’s Hospice is a registered charity caring for people with life-threatening illnesses – often.
The skilled and specially-trained staff offer daycare at the Hospice for people living in their own homes and in-patient palliative care in a purpose-built unit with 20 beds.
St Leonard’s held their first ever business challenge event last year, with teams from companies across York, including Garbutt & Elliott, going head-to-head against each other in a series of activities including mud buggies, blindfold driving, perspex rifles and sky walk.
