NG Developments lands major student contract

CURTAIN walling specialist NG Developments (Normanton) is set to play a key role in the development of a new 22-story student accommodation block in central Leeds after scooping a contract with KeyClad.
NG Developments, based in Wakefield, has secured a £500,000 contract that will see the team install more than 1400 sq m of curtain walling and windows as part of the second phase of the city centre student accommodation development Leeds Central Village.
Work has already begun on phase two of the student accommodation and retail facilities which will feature 413 en-suite rooms in an 18 storey new build tower.
This follows the successful launch of the phase one development in September 2012 which created a 568-bed student village in the heart of Leeds City Centre.
Adrian Lee, commercial director at NG, said: “We are delighted to be involved in such a major local development project here in Leeds – it’s the first time we have partnered with KeyClad and we are looking forward to achieving some great results and building a partnership for the future. So far, this year has been a busy one for us but the market is still a challenging one with companies working to much tighter budgets, so to secure this project – because of the high standard of our previous work – is a great achievement for the team.”
This new contract follows the completion of a number of successful projects for NG Developments including the installation of more than 2,800 sq m of glazing and 1,600 sq m of technal Curtain walling as part of a £70m regeneration scheme in Bicester town centre.
Earlier this year the company also picked up a contract worth more than £600,000 as part of The Moor shopping centre redevelopment in Sheffield.
