EVERSHEDS has welcomed two new associates to its corporate team in Leeds.
Rebecca Ashurst joins from Taylor Wessing and Sophia Leavett joins from Schofield Sweeney.

Eversheds Leeds corporate team has advised on deals with an aggregate transaction value of £1.5bn in the past year including the £220m disposal of Thornton & Ross to the Stada Group, Rutland Partners investment in Bernard Matthews, Coalfield Resources’ underwritten rights issue, Utilitywise’s acquisition of Energy Information Centre and William Jackson’s acquisition of Abel & Cole.

CREDIT card insurer CPP Group has appointed Ruth Evans as a non-executive director.
Evans has an established track record representing consumer interests across a range of public and private services, including the retail financial services sector. She has extensive experience in professional and economic regulation having served as chair and board member of economic and professional regulatory authorities.
Chairman, Charles Gregson, said: “Ruth brings a wealth of experience and consumer insight and expertise. Her clear emphasis on consumer affairs will provide valuable support to the Group as we reposition the business and manage redress effectively. The group board looks forward to working with her.”

THE debt recovery team at Langleys has hired Kim Spence who joins the York firm from Lupton Fawcett Lee & Priestley in Leeds.
A debt recovery specialist with more than 20 years’ legal experience, Spence has special interest in helping both small businesses and large listed companies with their debt recovery issues and internal credit control procedures.
She regularly advises on rent debt claims relating to residential and commercial properties and has acted for landlords in the licenced leisure sector, transport industry, housing associations and management companies.
Langleys’ head of dispute resolution, Darren Morgan, said: “We are delighted to have someone of Kim’s calibre heading our debt recovery team. Her years of experience, together with her renowned practical approach, will no doubt prove popular with both our clients and staff.”
