North Yorkshire law firm is shut down

ABODE Solicitors has been closed down by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
The Harrogate-based law firm, which trades as Arc Property Solicitors and is a firm of conveyancing solicitors with offices in Harrogate and London, has been closed due to an alleged failure to comply with the legal profession’s accounting rules.
40 jobs have been lost and David Wilson, of DFW Associates in Leeds, has been instructed by Abode director Raj Ali to assist with a creditors’ voluntary liquidation of both Abode Solicitors and Ali’s other business, Offmanser. Stephensons Solicitors in Leigh have been appointed as agents to deal with all matters currently held by Abode Solicitors.
The firm was recognised by The Lawyer in 2011 as a top 10 UK law firm by revenue per partner.
The SRA has appointed an agent to deal with all matters currently held by Abode Solicitors.
