Leda recruits new premises

YORKSHIRE recruitment firm LEDA has announced it is to relocate to new and larger premises as it continues to expand.

Leda, which incorporates Aaron Personnel, is one of the longest established privately owned recruitment businesses in the UK supplying temporary and permanent staff to the rail, building and civil engineering, consultancy and design services, mechanical and electrical, industrial and office support sectors.

In the year ended March 2008 the company experienced a 28% increase in sales, reporting a turnover of £23m compared to the previous year, where turnover was £18m.

Leda has also increased its workforce by 25% over the last 12 months, and now employs 66 people across its six UK offices in Leeds, Sheffield, Skipton, Middlesbrough, Warrington and Luton.

Leda is aiming to continue its year-on-year growth, with a sales target of £27m for the current financial year.

Leda’s Rail division, its fastest growing sector, recorded a turnover of £11m which far exceeded its growth targets.

The Rail division is a supplier of specialist expertise in track safety personnel including track maintenance and renewals staff, crane and machine controllers and overhead line staff, and supplies more than 600 rail staff to some of the UK’s largest rail contractors including Network Rail, Jarvis Rail, Balfour Beatty, First Engineering and Grant Rail.

Managing director, Howard Slinger, said: “In addition to our new headquarters in Kirkgate and in line with our strategic growth plan, we are also opening a new office in Didcot, Oxfordshire, which is the third office opened in as many years. Our Didcot office – which is part of the Thames Valley rail region – will enable us to support projects including Crossrail, and the development of the Thames Valley and South Western Rail infrastructure, as well as cementing our existing strong alliance with Network Rail and other clients.”

Leda has adopted the NSPCC as their chosen charity for 2008 after already establishing a relationship and now becoming neighbours to its Leeds ChildLine branch.
