Barnfield booked for two Harrogate hotel contracts

BARNFIELD Construction has won contracts to refurbish and extend a hotel  and build a new Travelodge, both in Harrogate.

The West Park Hotel, situated close to the main shopping area of the town, was bought in 2012 as part of an expansion programme by the Provenance Inns company, based in York.

Over the next 39 weeks the hotel will be transformed and extended into a traditional inn.

A £3.7m budget includes the delivery of a bar area and restaurant on the ground floor, 25 bedrooms, a residents lounge, function room and an orangery.

Barnfield has also scooped a £4.4m contract to design and build a four storey Travelodge on Tower Street – situated less than 300ft away from the West Park Hotel.

The 70 bed hotel is being developed for Leeds-based property group Gregory Properties and has been leased to Travelodge on a long term agreement.

Barnfield’s most recent Travelodge project was the five storey, 69 bed Bradford Central Hotel in 2012, just north of the city’s main shopping area Forster Square.

The scheme also includes a leisure centre on the ground and first floor for Pure Gym.
