A YORKSHIRE wealth management company has been assessed as one of the most successful in the UK.

Leeds-based Pearson Jones, which has four offices throughout the UK, has been judged to be the third most profitable wealth management business in the UK in a Top 100 industry list researched by New Model Adviser, part of ratings agency and financial publisher, Citywire.
 
According to the research, Pearson Jones will achieve profits of £1.5m in 2013 – £500,000 above 2011.
 
The company, which also has offices in Sheffield, Bishop Auckland and Reading, was identified as the biggest in the Top 100 wealth managers with 120 staff, including 13 chartered financial planners and £1.8m in funds under management.
 According to the research, Pearson Jones has maintained 75% of its recurring income since 2012 – 5% ahead of its position in 2011.
 
Pearson Jones investment director and deputy managing director, Peter Heckingbottom, says: “Implementing the Retail Distribution Review and maintaining the highest standards of advice to clients has enabled us to retain existing business and attract more at all our offices, even during the more cautious economic times.”

MULGRAVE Properties has won the award for the best large housing development at the LABC National Building Excellence Awards – one of the construction industry’s flagship events, for its Moorland Close development in Whitby. 

The development of 12 homes is on the site of a former sea front hotel in Whitby.

The scheme was designed by Malton based architects Bramhall Blenkharn and K&D Building (Whitby) undertook the construction.

YORKSHIRE gym chain Xercise4Less has been awarded National Budget Gym of the Year for the second year running, at the National Fitness Awards, 2013.

The Leeds branch beat off stiff competition from hundreds of clubs across the country to scoop top spot following on from the Doncaster branch’s success in 2012, making this the second consecutive year that Xercise4Less has won.

The judges said: “A very impressive club, successfully managing to break down one of the biggest barriers to exercise – cost. The wide range of facilities cater to all cross sections of the community from students, to strength and combat enthusiasts and women who prefer to work out in the dedicated ladies only section. It would be hard to find another club which offers so much for such a small price.”

The accolade is the latest addition to a long line of success stories for the gym over 2013 including gaining £5m backing from The British Growth Fund.

FIRST4LAWYERS is celebrating after being named Claims Management Company of the Year, for the second year running.    

The Huddersfield-based company won the sought-after title at the prestigious Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Awards 2013.

Run in conjunction with Claims Magazine, the awards, now in their sixth year, provide an opportunity to highlight and celebrate the excellence of individuals and organisations across the personal injury claims sector.

PORTAKABIN Group has been awarded its third accolade in recognition of its commitment to sustainability.

It has succeeded in achieving a Gold Award in the Business in the Community Environment Index 2013. This puts the York-based group among the UK’s highest performing businesses for environmental management.

FLETCHERS Group of Bakeries has taken the number one frozen food supplier honour for its Kara Foodservice brand at a top foodservice industry awards ceremony.

The inaugural Country Range Group (CRG) Annual Supplier Awards awarded Kara Frozen Food Supplier of the Year for its service, growth, innovation, and business relationships.

In a double awards run, Sheffield’s Fletchers Group of Bakeries, whick took home the award for Yorkshire Grit at the 2012 Yorkshire Business Masters, won the Wake Smith Excellence in Manufacturing Award at the Sheffield Business Awards.
