Plans progress at listed building as Property Alliance signs first tenant

PROPERTY Alliance Group has started work on the interior refurbishment of York Council’s former home and confirmed its first tenant.

CH2M HIL, which delivers planning, design and management services, is taking 8,800 sq ft at Grade two listed 20 George Hudson Street from March 2014.

Having recently expanded its operation in York, CH2M HILL is relocating from 22 Lendal Street.

The new office will accommodate 60-90 of its employees.

Jilly Hersey, European facilities operations manager at CH2M HILL, said: “It is an ideal location, close to our clients and near the train station, providing colleagues with different modes of transport to get to and from work. The property is also full of character with a unique interior and historic feel to it and one that our staff will enjoy working in. We are looking forward to seeing the refurb progress and moving in spring 2014.”

Ian Hunter, director at Property Alliance Group added: “We are progressing a contemporary, interior refurbishment that will meet the requirement for high-quality Grade A office space in York. Our renovations so far have revealed a number of period features, many of which were hidden behind suspended ceilings, plaster and carpets.

“The accommodation will be able to meet an occupier’s bespoke requirement and given its close proximity to the railway station and York’s main shopping centre, we are confident that we can fill the remaining space quickly.”

Space ranging from 860 sq ft – 9,725 sq ft is available at the building.

The joint agents for the property are CBRE in Leeds and Lawrence Hannah in York.
