Blakey launches Blue Crocodile

YORKSHIRE cricketer Richard Blakey has joined forces with a Leeds marketing specialist to launch a new sports agency.

Blue Crocodile is the brainchild of marketing and brand specialist Tony Stanton and the former Yorkshire and England wicket keeper.

The new agency will combine managing sports stars and events with developing commercial opportunities for sporting teams and venues.

Mr Stanton is the founder and chief executive of Leeds-based marketing and communications company, an agency called england.

Mr Blakey said: “Blue Crocodile is launching in the right place at the right time. The cricket world for one is undergoing a major transformation with the development of the Indian Premier League and the Stanford Super Series.

“Blue Crocodile already represents 12 leading cricket players, and with our established contacts in India and Australia as well as the UK, these players will be in a position to benefit from the developing game.

“Blue Crocodile will provide the support, guidance and opportunities which were not available as I was beginning my playing career.”

Tony Stanton added: “Blue Crocodile is involved with a number of high profile events, including several around the 2009 Ashes Series, when the 4th test will be coming to Headingley Carnegie next year.

“The combination of sporting connections and commercial know-how will give Blue Crocodile the edge, making it the source of the most original solutions in sports marketing.”
