Building Briefs: 4Urban; LCF Law; Barry Crux & Company; and more

PLANS for creation of a new leisure destination for Harrogate will go on display next week.

The £10m scheme, including a four-screen art-house cinema and a range of restaurants, is being proposed by Harrogate-based urban regeneration specialists 4Urban, which is preparing a planning application for submission to Harrogate Borough Council.

The redevelopment of the former Co-Operative building on Albert Street/Station Parade, currently occupied on a short term sub-lease by Beales department store, would create up to 250 jobs.

Paul Lancaster, managing director of 4Urban, said: “This is a major development for Harrogate and, as part of our detailed consultation programme, we hope that as many people as possible will come to the public exhibition to look at our plans and let us have their views.

“We believe that our scheme will add to the vitality of the town centre and increase the attractiveness of Harrogate as a retail and leisure destination.”

The plans will be showcased at a public exhibition in the Victoria Room at Harrogate Library on March 21 and 22.

A WEST Yorkshire law firm has relocated its head office as the company gears up for its next stage of growth.

LCF Law has moved to an 11,000 sq ft office space at One St James Business Park, Bradford.

The office move is the second major development for the legal firm this year after it underwent a rebrand and name change, which saw it abbreviate its former name, Last Cawthra Feather.

The new office houses 60 of the firm’s 85 employees. LCF Law, which was previously based on Sunbridge Road, also operates offices in Leeds city centre and Ilkley.

Simon Stell, managing partner, said: “We have operated in Bradford for more than 25 years and this new office gives us a prominent base at one of the city’s best addresses to continue growing and building on our reputation as the area’s leading corporate and personal legal firm.”

Four new deals have been completed at Sunny Bank Mills, the iconic Yorkshire mill complex between Leeds and Bradford.

Vision Chemicals, Be Beautiful, Soundproof and Sue Wilson Photography have all moved into the refurbished mill in Farsley, where YTV’s Emmerdale and Heartbeat were filmed.

All four companies have taken space in Sandsgate, the historic 10,700 sq ft Edwardian Mill Office, which has recently undergone a £750,000 modernisation programme.

During the past two years Sunny Bank Mills, one of the most famous family-owned mills in Yorkshire, has been transformed into a modern office complex.

These four deals come hard on the heels of two transactions at the end of last year, which saw Leeds Foodbank (West) and Karen Gavin photography move into Sunny Bank Mills.

John Gaunt, joint managing director of Edwin Woodhouse, the owners of Sunny Bank Mills, said: “We are delighted to welcome four new tenants to Sandsgate. We are now seeing a steady flow of new tenants into Sunny Bank Mills, breathing new life into an historic complex.”

“They are all excellent examples of successful businesses being attracted to a quality business environment and their arrival underlines the versatility and flexibility of space at Sunny Bank Mills, which is attracting an exciting breadth of occupiers,” he added.
