In Brief: PwC raises record amount, monster crane bought, and more

TWO jobs have been created following the acquisition by a Yorkshire company of what is thought to be the biggest ‘lorry loader’ crane in the UK.

Sharron Pattison Logistics, based in Hull, has bought the £340,000 crane with financial backing from Yorkshire Bank’s East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Financial Solutions Centre (FSC).

The company said the purchase would allow it to break into a wide range of new business areas including lifting machinery, structural steel girders, roof beams and air conditioning units into place on construction sites, placing hot tubs in back gardens and moving temporary buildings at hospitals and schools into tight locations.

The 36m reach, 175 tonne crane has been acquired from the Italian manufacturer Effer.

THE Leeds office of PricewaterhouseCoopers has raised £40,000 for local charities, including Martin House and Jane’s Appeal.

The challenge set to the office was to raise as much money as possible throughout the year for a local charity chosen by employees.

The community and fundraising team took up the challenge and a number of initiatives were organised to help reach the target. These included a glitzy auction and ball, a 100 person strong team in the Leeds 10k run, art exhibitions, taking part in the Jane’s Appeal End to End cycle challenge and dress down Fridays.

The figure is almost double the amount the office raised for charity the previous year and everyone is delighted with the fantastic achievement.

Going forward the office vote has once again chosen Martin House to be the charity they support for the next 12 months, and look forward to an even stronger showing in the Jane’s Appeal Leeds 10k run.

SECURITY firm Keybury Security Systems, formed in 1982, has changed its name to Keybury Fire & Security.

Based in Keighley, West Yorkshire, and with offices in Skipton and Ilkley, the company has diversified to offer similar expertise in installing fire alarm systems and said the new name reflects the changing face of the business.

The move comes after the company was awarded a rare Gold rating from the British Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE), an organisation dedicated to improving fire protection. Supported by the Government and the Health & Safety Executive, systems endorsed by BAFE are recognised as being of the highest possible standard.

The BAFE rating follows Keybury’s Gold award by the National Security Inspectorate for both its intruder and fire alarm systems.
