Demand for retail and leisure sites is thriving

COMMERICIAL property firm Carter Towler said it is confident that demand for retail and leisure opportunities will rise this year.

The Leeds-based business said its retail team completed more than 70 deals last year and expects to boost this figure in 2014.

Deals for the firm included Costa Coffee (York); Rigby & Peller (Harrogate); BrewDog (Sheffield) and Heron Foods (Leeds).

Anthony Jackson, associate director, said: “Despite a challenging retail climate, 2013 showed that there is demand for retail and leisure opportunities from a broad spectrum of occupiers. With nearly 100 instructions across the North of England we are looking forward to being even more active in 2014.”

Meanwhile, Carter Towler’s office agency team has been instructed to advise on the marketing of the vacant office accommodation at The Arndale Centre in Headingley, which was recently acquired by Schroder Real Estate Investment.

Existing tenants at Arndale House include White Young Green and Reed Elsevier, however there is also in excess of 25,000 sq ft of vacant office accommodation available to let.
