Yorkshire IoD appoints new regional director

YORKSHIRE Institute of Directors (IoD) has appointed Natalie Sykes as its new regional director.

A former chair of the Young Directors Forum, Sykes is an entrepreneur with business interests across property, hospitality, health and wellbeing and vintage motors.

Sykes began her business careers by supplying electrical components in bulk to the haulage and equipment industries. She subsequently moved into the luxury hospitality sector where she has spent 15 years working with historic hotels, resorts, estates, spas and restaurants.

She is working towards the IoD’s chartered director status and is an ambassador for the IoD student membership and the higher level apprenticeship scheme. She is also chair of Groundwork North Yorkshire, vice chair of Groundwork Pride and director of the Moor Park Estate, while working part time at Ashville College developing its trading company in the areas of events and lettings.

Sykes said: “I am passionate about business excellence, entrepreneurship, professional development, quality events, and, of course, my homeland, Yorkshire. This role is a great fit for many of my values. I would like to see many other aspiring and young directors seeing my appointment as inspiration.  It underlines our regional and national IoD message supporting leaders of all backgrounds showing total inclusion within our business community.”

Her role for Yorkshire IoD is part time and will see her work closely with chair, Peter Holmes. He added: “Natalie brings experience from sectors of our economy that complement our existing base and further strengthen our position as the go to business organisation in Yorkshire for directors in every aspect of the business world.”
