Success set in stone for Bradford firm

BRADFORD-based granite kitchen worktop specialist Marble 4 Life is predicting a sales increase of £100,000 following its move to a new factory and investment in state-of-the-art machinery.

The family-run firm, which designs, manufactures and installs bespoke granite worktops, has experienced rapid expansion since being formed by Amjad and Zahir Hussain four years ago.

The brothers decided to start up their own company after spotting a niche in the market for quality granite worktops while working with their father in his fireplace business.

After receiving advice from the Manufacturing Advisory Service Yorkshire and Humber (MAS), the firm has moved into a new 5,000sq ft factory and invested in an automated machine to mill reliefs into worktops to that fluids can drain away.

“My brother and I are passionate about the business, but sometimes you can get too close,” said Amjad Hussain.

“Having an organisation like MAS to guide us has been a terrific help. We decided to follow Mike’s advice and invested a six figure sum to purchase the machine and Mike helped us to source an appropriate manufacturer.”

The £600,000 turnover firm now has 15 employees. The new factory and machinery has already increased productivity by 15% and its founders are confident of a significant increase in sales.

Marble 4 Life was also advised by Business Link Yorkshire. MAS is an initiative funded by regional development agency Yorkshire Forward and managed by YFM Business Development.
