Construction group wins £8.5m contract
YORK House Construction has been appointed to construct two medical centres for the Oakapple Group in a contract worth around £8.5m.
Developer Oakapple Primary Care Properties has appointed York House Construction on projects in Cheshire and West Yorkshire, where it will construct two medical centres that will provide patients with the latest healthcare services.
The £4.5m design and build project in Ossett, Wakefield, comprises three buildings connected by a common glazed link totalling 32,000 sq ft, which is set to be completed in October 2009.
The new facility will provide patients with two adjacent car parks and wheelchair access.
Construction of the £4m Alsager Health Centre, Cheshire has now been completed, replacing two existing medical centres and a PCT Clinic in the area. The 34,000 sq ft new building also includes an associated pharmacy and offers patients many treatments in modern surroundings which weren’t on offer before.
Andy Bruce, managing director of York House Construction, said: “Our experience in healthcare services made us the ideal choice when the Oakapple Group were considering their contractor. We have a strong healthcare portfolio comprising a variety of builds including, Middleton St George Hospital, Darlington; Hearing for Life Centre, Bradford; South Hylton Medical Centre, Sunderland, and an Ambulance station and PCT facility in Brough.
“Building work for the medical centre in Cheshire has been kept to schedule and we believe that it will play an important role in the community, as will the Ossett facility.”
Darren Oxley, Development Manager of Oakapple Primary Care Properties, part of the Oakapple Group said: ‘Following the successful completion of the Alsager project, we are pleased to be continuing our working relationship with York House and look forward to delivering another exceptional medical facility for the Primary Care Trust, the practices and their patients.
York House Construction’s head office is based in Brompton on Swale near Richmond with a satellite office in Leeds.
