A triumph for charity as thousands turn out for Asda Foundation Leeds 10K

THOUSANDS of runners took to the streets of Leeds yesterday to make the eighth Asda Foundation Leeds 10K another resounding success.

The race, part of the legacy of the inspirational Jane Tomlinson who founded the event in 2007, has raised over £2.5m since its launch.

Around 10,000 entrants took on the course to raise money for a host of good causes.

Also running were hundreds of business men and women taking part in the Clarion Corporate Challenge, supported by media partner TheBusinessDesk.com, in which companies and other organisations compete to be crown the city’s fastest firm. The results of the challenge will be announced soon.

Roger Hutton, senior partner at Clarion, said: “Congratulations to everyone that ran on Sunday – on race day there is always such a wonderful atmosphere in the city centre. A fantastic amount of money is always raised for the regions charities, so many people coming together to support great causes.  Whether you achieved your personal best or ran for the first time you should all be very proud of your achievement.”
