In Brief: MNA Consulting; Wilson Field; CCL; Butterfield

HEALTH and safety specialist MNA Consulting (UK) has secured two new contracts.

Goole-based MNA Consulting (UK) will be providing on-going support to Leeds-based Castlehouse Construction and Leeds-based Thomson Limited.

For Castlehouse, MNA will be working closely with all site managers to ensure the company’s work on site complies with health and safety legislation, offering guidance, advice and support as necessary.

Meanwhile, a £10,000 investment in the latest training and technology has paid off after MNA Consulting (UK) secured a contract to provide Face Fit testing services to environmental and engineering firm Thomson. Face Fit testing is a legal requirement for anyone who has to wear respiratory protective equipment in the workplace.

INSOLVENCY practitioners from the Leeds’ office of Wilson Field have helped to save all 72 jobs at Scunthorpe transport company Westram, after it was bought out of administration for £1.2m.

The business is well known for the transport of abnormal loads and had been operating for more than 30 years.

Hexagon Leasing, a Derby-based independent provider of contract hire and fleet management services, and also a significant creditor of the company, stepped in to acquire the company’s business and assets and preserve the future of the business and the 72 employees’ jobs.

Kelly Burton and Joanne Wright from insolvency and business turnaround specialist Wilson Field were appointed in July after HMRC issued a winding-up petition when a “Time to Pay” scheme failed. Tax arrears had accrued when the company faced cash flow problems following difficulties managing a substantial contract and complications with the company’s debtor ledger.

Wilson Field has worked closely with business support and restructuring partner Ben Slack from the Leeds office of lawyers Addleshaw Goddard to find a buyer, pay the secured creditor in full and secure the jobs in two weeks.
