Construction begins on Thorne Park’s second phase

DEVELOPER Henry Boot has begun construction work on a new pub and restaurant at Thorne Park, in Doncaster.

The King’s Chamber is the first building to commence in the second phase of a 20 acre mixed use development located at Junction 6 of the M18.

The pub – which will be run by Marston’s Inns and Taverns and offer a carvery – is expected to create up to 50 new jobs and cater for up to 180 diners a day.

George Georgiou, area operations manager for Marston’s Inns and Taverns, said: “We’re extremely excited about our latest pub, which we hope will build a great reputation locally, offering top quality pub food and an unrivalled selection of cask beers from across the country.”

The development will also include a Tesco supermarket and filling station as well as two drive through restaurants.

Henry Boot Developments recently secured a £6.45m grant from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to enable delivery of phase three at Thorne Park which includes a mix of distribution and warehouse units totalling approximately 150,000 sq ft.

The company expects to appoint contractors in December to commence the speculative build.

Vivienne Clements, director of Henry Boot Developments, said: “We are pleased to see Marstons on site with a new food pub that will serve not only the local community but also the growing number of people working at Thorne Park.

“We are also excited to move forward with speculative development to provide high quality industrial space on the site.

“We are seeing increased market demand in the area and feel confident that the business park will appeal to a range of occupiers including food and drink, financial and other business sectors.”
