In brief: Watermill Press, DML

A BRADFORD labelling manufacturer’s £1m investment has seen sales grow by 30% in 18 months.

The investment package includes three converting lines and provides Watermill Press with the largest dedicated production capacity for product identification labels in the UK.

Two large new contracts with major retailers, won as a direct result of the recent investment in machinery, saw turnover rise from £5.5m in 2013 to £7.5m in 2014.

Six new members of staff were employed to manage and run the technology.

Managing director at Watermill Press, Dale Deacon, said:”It is a great Yorkshire success story. The label converting machines are designed and made in Bridlington, and much of our raw materials come from a paper plant in Scarborough.

“We employ 26 people locally, are proud to be a ‘Living Wage’ employer and partner with other regional companies wherever possible.

“Even though our client network is national, we believe it’s important to support Yorkshire businesses – we’ve been in partnership with our machinery supplier, AB Graphic International, for nearly 20 years.”

Shopfront fitters, DML Group, have been appointed to a £1.4m project at Great Minster House, one of London’s newest luxury residential developments.

The Leeds-based company was chosen by the scheme’s developer, Barratt London, to manufacture and install 280 windows and doors.

Great Minster House offers 61 stylish studios, apartments and penthouses on six floors, situated on the corner of Marsham Street and Horseferry Road in Westminster, close to St James’s Park, Knightsbridge and London’s West End.

Chris Murray, sales and marketing director, DML Group, said: “This is a really imaginative scheme on which we’ve worked closely with Barratt London to design a range of products that fit with the luxurious style of the building whilst meeting its technical specifications.

“We have many years experience in this sector and have established an outstanding reputation for delivering large and often prestigious, residential schemes.”

DML Group has two divisions: Drawn Metal, which provides bespoke metalwork and shopfronts and whose clients include some of the world’s leading brands; and DML Architectural Systems, which specialises in external aluminium façades, cladding, windows, unitised and curtain walling and is a preferred supplier for several of the UK’s largest main contractors.
