Work starts on 25,000 sq ft store

A STORE, described as “the final piece of the jigsaw” for Catterick Garrison town centre, is scheduled to be open before the end of the year after work began on the £5m programme.

S Harrison Developments and construction firm Lindum York are building a 25,000 sq ft shop for B&M next to the Richmondshire Walk development and near to the Prince’s Gate development, which is also expected to open later this year.

Steve McManaman, project manager of York-based S Harrison Developments, said: “The addition of new budget retail store opposite the entrance to the popular leisure centre is a natural extension of the successful retail and leisure campus – the final piece of the jigsaw to give Catterick Garrison the town centre that it has so long deserved.”

There will be 30 permanent jobs when the store opens, in addition to the employment created during the 25-week construction phase.

The developer has recently won planning approval for a number of major development schemes in York, Whitby and Edinburgh.
