Leisure entrepreneurs invest further in former Royal residence

ONLY six months after launching, Grade II-listed Rudby Hall in North Yorkshire has expanded.

Marketed as a luxury venue for corporate events, private parties and accommodation, the Stokesley country home was officially opened last September, and was previously the Royal residence of King William IV’s daughter Lady Amelia Cary.

After increasing demand, husband-and-wife team Martin and Sandra Johnson have added a further seven rooms of the site, more than doubling its capacity.

They have reportedly seen major interest from corporates, both regionally and internationally, and 25 weddings have already been booked for 2015.

The site was restored by Teeside-based Python Properties, and hit headlines last year after Liam Gallagher of Oasis and his partner stayed, labelling it a “top gaff”.

Mr Johnson said: “Our historic, picturesque setting offers people something quite different and there’s nothing else like it in the area.

“What’s more, we live here as a family and have a very hands-on approach having spent three years restoring and renovating the whole property.

“The popularity of Rudby Hall has exceeded our own predictions and there was a very real need to increase the number of suites.

“We’re extremely pleased to be able to welcome so many people from all over the world to this beautiful area and showcase the very many other leisure opportunities and local suppliers that North Yorkshire has to offer.”
