SME: Moduloft, Gough and Kelly, Azzure IT

LOFT firm Moduloft has plans in the pipeline to facilitate its expansion, after predicting revenues of £8m this year, which would be a record for the firm.
Tim Benson founded the firm in 1996, and now the company occupies a 80,000 sq ft manufacturing facility, employing 80 people.
Mr Benson purchased the facilities in March, which can accommodate over 120 staff at peak times.
The firm will also be developing a new venture, Moduroom, which creates factory-built extensions to plan. Approval has also been given for a new storage yard and offices, which will include a customer showroom.
He said: “Moduloft was originally developed as a way of beating the British weather, allowing us to build a complete loft conversion in controlled factory conditions with no downtime,” he said.
“After more than 20 years in the loft conversion industry I knew customers would be attracted by the fact that they don’t have to have builders on site for months on end.”

Security and electrical services firm Gough and Kelly has won a £650,000 contract as part of the University of Leeds’ £10.6m multi-storey car park.
The car park will have 690 spaces, and Gough and Kelly signed an electrical and mechanical contract with developer Shepherd Construction to design and install a full LED lighting scheme.
Gough and Kelly’s mechanical and engineering client manager, Nathan Haxby, says: “Our engineers are due to start on site in the next two months, and our work will be completed by December.
“It was the combination of electrical and security expertise within our team that helped us design a lighting and security system that is both innovative and cost effective, and met the university’s specific requirements.”

Metal components firm Independent Forgings and Alloys, based in Sheffield, has enlisted Azzure IT as it strives for greater efficiency.
The forging manufacturer operates from a four acre site and creates high specification components for global markets including aerospace, defence, energy and nuclear power.
Azzure installed Microsoft Dynamics NAV software to help save the company time and money.
Daniel Rodgers, accountant at Independent Forgings and Alloys explains: “Our old system simply couldn’t keep up with the speed of change within an advanced engineering environment like ours. We were having to enter information in duplicate onto various spreadsheets and use different systems for recording different processes.”
“The Microsoft Dynamics NAV solution provided by Azzure IT has changed all that.
“Our business is a unique one, which requires the management of a high volume of technical information, worldwide deliveries and large quantities of metals varying from titanium to stainless steel to copper.
“Craig and the team at Azzure IT did a superb job in providing us with an ERP system that works to our own, specific needs.”
