Appointments: Beverley Building Society, Santander, Arkoni

A CHAIRMAN has been appointed at Beverley Building Society.

Brian Young previously served as a non-executive director to the firm for four years.

Mr Young said: “I am really delighted to take on the role of Chairman being a fervent believer in the role of the Mutuals. Even my home town football club is now owned by their supporters!

“The key for any board is to ensure that the Society stays as strong and as relevant for the next generation, as it has been for the last 150 years.

“Regulation and society change, but we should always remain loyal to our founding principles of providing a safe place for our savers and equally somewhere where people who want to buy or improve their homes, can go to for a straightforward loan.

“With our strong balance sheet, consistently growing profits, capital and reserves, we are well placed to continue to serve our members.”

Fire-glazing and metalworking firm Arkoni has appointed a general manager in Bob McMann.

Arkoni founder and MD Mark Prentice commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Bob on board! With 35 years of experience within the glazing and construction façade sectors, he’ll bring a wealth of knowledge to our operations.”

Mr McMann commented: “The fast growth of Arkoni in recent years has created issues that need to be addressed such as the increase in product lines and the
requirement to provide the correct training and resourcing for our
workforce.”

Founded in 1991, Arkoni supplies the UK construction industry and employs a team of 60. Arkoni is expected to post a 23% increase in turnover to £6.5 million in 2014/15.
