The fastest businesspeople in Leeds revealed

APPLEYARD LEES ran off the Clarion Corporate Challenge title at the Leeds 10k race.

The challenge, which saw 684 runners in 84 teams make it to the finish line, is decided on the aggregate time of the fastest three runners.
The trade mark attorneys were first home, with the only sub-two-hour time of 1:58:25 – an average of 39 minutes 28 seconds – with BBC Leeds and Squire Patton Boggs also on the podium.
Although both recorded equal times of 2:01:53, the media team were ranked second because it had the fastest runner in the two teams.
Overall the fastest male and female corporate challenge runners both came from Mastek, whose team finished in fourth place. Mark Havenhand achieved a time of 35:53, with Fiona Davies running 37:26, the second-fastest female in the overall race.

Roger Hutton, senior partner with law firm Clarion, said: “There was a tremendous response from the Leeds business community this year as we have hit record numbers for the Corporate Challenge. We would like to thank all the organisations that entered.”
Graham Watson, from Runforall.com, added: “The humid conditions didn’t appear to hinder the enthusiasm for the record number of runners that joined us, and may have helped many achieve personal bests – there were some very good times recorded, including those in our own corporate challenge.
“Figures from charities are still being compiled, but the event will have raised many tens of thousands of pounds for local and national charities. Congratulations to each individual who took part, and we look forward to welcoming you again next year.”
The team from TheBusinessDesk.com showed that their speed of news delivery is not matched by speed on the race track and came 74th.
