Digital event provides insights into business transformation through digital innovation

HOW to transform your business through digital innovation was under discussion at a recent conference held in Leeds.
The event, Barclays Insights: Digital and your business, was hosted by the bank in response to a growth in interest amongst its clients for information on digital solutions to meet the challenges of keeping up to date with innovations, technologies and communication methods.
Dan Cluderay, managing director of retailer Approved Foods, and Pharmacy2U managing director Daniel Lee were joined by Rebecca James and Michael Mueller from Barclays and TheBusinessDesk.com’s Lee-J Walker for a panel discussion on the potential and pitfalls of trading online.
Panel chairman Alex Turner, editor of TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “Businesses recognise the opportunities that digital innovations offer but it can be difficult to know where to focus efforts.
“The advice and experiences of business people who have succeeded in creating online businesses, and doing so both from scratch and by moving a bricks-and-mortar business online, was insightful and made it compelling listening.”
Workshops were focused on digital solutions that could stimulate a new generation of products and services, as well as new markets, and included innovative payment solutions, cloud computing and cyber security.
Barclays has sought to position itself as the digital-friendly bank with a range of programmes such as its digital eagles and code playground initiatives.
Tony Walsh, co-head of UK corporate banking at Barclays said: “The digital agenda is paramount for all our customers regardless of the size of their business or the complexity of their transactions. We’re focused on making sure that we provide digital education for both our personal and business customers so that they have more choices around how they do business and don’t get left behind on their digital journey.”
