Care development with £13m pricetag in the works

THE Prospect Property Group has proposed the development of a £13m retirement village in North Yorkshire.

If given the green light, the care village will contain 40 beds, and 44 bungalows and apartments.

The site would mean that Heritage Care Villages, under the umbrella of Prospect, would create 35 full-time jobs.

The 87,120 sq ft site in Great Ayrton would be set in the parkland at Cleveland Lodge.

The development is currently under consideration by Hambleton District Council, and if approved, the site will be ready for occupation in 2016.

James Elliott of Aspect Architecture who are designing the site said: “The changing demographics, life expectancy and varying standards of NHS care means this type of high-quality, couple-based care is much in demand.

“It will mean that couples facing separation due to declining physical or mental health will be able to remain at the same facility, improving quality of life for both partners.

The proposed facility is one of four similar centres planned for development by Heritage Care Villages across the UK in 2016.
