Leisure site on the verge of completion

A DONCASTER leisure complex is nearing completion after 13 months of development.

The Adwick Leisure Complex has already seen a new gym, three times the size of before, and 10-pin bowling alley, and now the final finishing touches will improve infrastructure around the site.

The Doncaster Culture and Leisure Centre venue on Welfare Road has been undergoing refurbishment since July 2014 to improve the centre’s facilities, adding a restaurant and bar to the site.

This final phase will see the refurbishment of the venue’s changing rooms and car park, with the creation of an additional 70 spaces and a new layout to improve traffic flow.

Michael Hart, chief executive of DCLT, said: “We’re excited to be moving on to the third and final phase of Adwick Leisure Complex’s refurbishment.

“Over the last 12 months we’ve seen the centre transform from the aged site it once was, to a truly modern venue that will provide substantial benefits to the local community.

“The addition of new car parking spaces, better changing facilities and a new ventilation system will make all the difference to those who use Adwick Leisure Complex, enhancing their experience and bringing the venue in-line with the high standards we have here at DCLT.”
