Farmer launches plans for holiday site set to create 170 jobs

A LOCAL farmer, Alan Petch, has launched plans for the development of a £9m holiday village near Great Ayton.

Plans for the site are up for public consultation next week, ahead of the proposals heading to planners from Hambleton District Council.

Mr Petch’s family have farmed in the area for several generations and he is aiming to help diversify the farm’s offering.

The 200 chalet park would be next to the existing holiday sites of Angrove Park and create an estimated 170 new jobs for the area, through direct employment at the site and in the supply chain.

Consultants have also estimated the scheme would provide a £3m boost to the local economy each year, including approximately an additional £1.6m spent on food and drink in the local area.

The public exhibition will take place on 11 August at the Friends Meeting House in Great Ayton between 4pm and 6pm.
