Logistics group opens Leeds warehouse

LOGISTICS group Panther Warehousing has opened its 85,000 sq ft site in Leeds, which forms a key part of its £3m investment programme.
The cross-dock facility at Cross Green will enable the Northampton-based company to improve its service in the north, and it will handle betwwn 500 and 700 orders per night from the site.
It specialises in two-man delivery services and employs around 500 people from six depots nationwide. Initially 20 people will be employed at Leeds although the company has indicated this figure may well increase.
Colin McCarthy, managing director of Panther, said: “This move is down to ever-increasing demand for our one-man and two-man service which has enabled the continued growth of Panther Warehousing.
“As Panther continues to grow, more and more customers are seeking a warehousing service from us. The additional capacity is vital to us in our quest to meet our customer needs.”
Panther has grown its sales from £11m in 2012 to an estimated £30m this year following the launch of new depots in Peterlee, County Durham, and Taunton, Somerset, and the move to a larger head office site.
