Appointments: Royal Bank of Scotland, Freeths, EMIS

RICHARD SMART has been appointed as the head of structured finance, corporate and commercial banking for The Royal Bank of Scotland in the North of England.

He will lead a team of 15 debt specialists focusing on the structuring and execution of leveraged debt financings such as MBO, M&A, and growth funding.

They will also support entrepreneurs, private companies, AIM and FTSE listed businesses through their growth.

Mr Smart has held various senior positions at the Royal Bank of Scotland including directly supporting the chief executive of the Corporate & Institutional Bank and working extensively across Real Estate and Structured Finance. He has just finalised relocating his family back to Leeds after ten years in London.

Since 2014, Richard has completed various M&A, post IPO and other debt financing transactions amounting to over £2.2bn. Richard is also Chartered Accountant having qualified with PwC in Leeds.

LAW firm Freeths has appointed two solicitors to its expanding real estate team.

Richard Crosland and Rachel Hawrot both have experience in commercial property matters, with several FTSE 100 companies amongst their client base.

These appointments follow those of partner Matthew Thompson and director Liz Banks in the last 12 months.

LISTED firm the EMIS Group has announced that Andrew McKeon will be reappointed as a non-executive director of the company and as chairman of the Remuneration Committee with effect from 30 September 2015.

Mike O’Leary, chairman of the Company, said: “We are delighted to reappoint Andy as a Non-Executive Director following his agreed leave of absence. His considerable knowledge of NHS healthcare is invaluable to the Board and we welcome him back to the team.”
